Born on February 1902 in Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen is considered the grandfather of modern Danish design, one of the most influential architects and designers of the 20th century. His iconic furniture and product designs led his name into design history. Inspired mainly by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and the protagonists of the Bauhaus school, Arne Jacobsen was an innovator. Driven by un unstoppable need to create, in 1932, Arne Jacobsen began a collaboration with Fritz Hansen company and started to create a series of chairs which are now recognised as masterpieces,which influenced the development of modern furniture: The Ant (1951), The Egg and The Swan(1957).
