Christian Dell

Born in 1893, Christian Dell was a German silversmith, teacher and industrial designer. He became best known for his design of desk lamps, constructed from new materials as bakelite and aminoplastics. After graduating from Saxon College of Arts and Crafts Christian Dell  ran the metal workshop at Bauhaus University until 1925, where he played a important role, becoming a pionner, an innovator of his time. His designs are characterised by functionality and interesting, unique shapes. After World War II, Christian moved to Wiesbaden and returned to his original profession as a silversmith, until his death in 1974.
